1. Try Menorca’s Beautiful Local Cheese
Mahon Cheese, or Queso Mahón as it’s locally known is a beautiful cheese easily identifying by its paprika and oil brushed outer casing given it a distinct deep orange skin.
Flavourful and paired with fruits, bread, ham and other cheese, Queso Mahón has a nice buttery taste and produced in a variety of different maturity levels, each with its own flavour profile. Maturity from 21 days, a more yellowish colour with a softer and more elastic profile, still tasting slightly buttery. From 60 days, the Queso Mahón ramps up in flavour and this is the typical orange cased cheese you will see. A lot firmer and easier to cut and lovely flavours again of butter, cream with a milky taste. Lastly, maturity from 150 days, quite a bit firmer with a flakier profile, expect more intense flavours in this maturity!

2. Visit The Notorious Cave Club & Witness A Spectacular Sunset
The Menorca cave club, Cova d’en Xoroi is exactly that. A club built into the side of the cliffs with spectacular views over the Mediterranean sea, walkways bending around the rocky cliffs and sunsets to die for.
You’ll need to head Cala en Porter which is relatively easy to reach by car but slightly tricker by bus, our Cova d’en Xoroi guide has everything you need.
When visiting, expect nightly music, DJs, beautiful cocktails and you can even treat yourself to private areas and VIP packages.
3. Visit The Highest Point Of Menorca
At number 3 of our 20 amazing things to in Menorca this summer is another experience you can only do on the island of Menorca.
Want to see Menorca with 360 degree, unspoilt views? Then look no further than the highest point in Menorca. Mount Toro, standing tall over Es Mercadal, although not even reaching 400m in elevations provides spectacular view of the island.
Ample photo opportunities and giving you the chance to spot your hotel or some of the other best resorts in Menorca. You can even treat yourself to an ice cream and the top once you’ve made it.

4. Stop Of At One Of The Coastline Lighthouses
Around the rugged and picturesque coastline of Menorca you’ll find dotted around, elegant lighthouses perched to protect the coast and seafarers. From the eastern tip of the island, to the western shores, the 7 lighthouses of Menorca provide the perfect backdrop to practise your photography skills.

5. Hike Around A Section Of the Enormous Coastal Path
Going back to the beautiful coastline, although this time on land. Around the outskirts of the island, tracking the sea and coastline you have the Camí de Cavalls, or Horses path. A hiking trail that spans in excess of 180 kilometres split into 20 manageable chunks.
Easily signposted and taking in various coastal resorts, the Camí de Cavalls is free, unique and ultimately, an extremely fun and enjoyable, morning, afternoon and summers evening out exploring.
6. Visit The Islands Capital, Mahon
On the east of the island, looking out further into the Mediterranean sea towards Italy, Mahon is definitely worth a visit. The capital of Menorca and its beautiful natural harbour make for a spectacular backdrop to wander aimlessly through the towns cobbled streets.
Steeped in history, intimate independent stores, family run restaurants, cafes and bars to enjoy a cold drink in, boat trips a plenty and everything in between. The Menorcan capital Mahon has something for everyone, and extremely easy to reach by bus and if not, more convenient than by car too.

7. Enjoy A Traditional Ice Cold Gin Drink, Pomada
After all that exploring and venturing around the island what could be better than enjoying a traditional Menorcan alcoholic drink? Known locally as a Pomada, typically with plenty of ice mixes together local Gin and bitter lemon to form a Pomada.
Using local Menorcan Gin called Xoriguer Gin. The Pomada, which exudes influence from the British past, mixes Xoriguer Gin with bitter lemon, typically in the form of Fanta Limon. Often enjoyed at one of the many Menorcan festivals you’ll probably spot locals carrying homemade versions in large bottles to drink whilst wandering the streets, as well as locals enjoying practically anytime of the day really.

8. Explore The Menorcan Coastline Via Boat
Being an island, Menorca has plenty of coastline to enjoy. The sea is shallow around the shore and during the summertime the waves and gentle and water is particularly warm.
From the northern shores of Fornells, to southern coastline of Cala Galdana to Santo Tomas. Even cruises around Mahon and the spectuacrly harbour. There are many boat trips to enjoy around the island of Menorca and below are some of our favourites.
9. Purchase Traditional Menorcan Sandals
Who doesn’t enjoy a spot of shopping? Especially when on holiday. The traditional Menorcan sandal have historical been used by the local farmers but more recently and in modern times they’ve become somewhat of a fashion statement. Blending stability and comfort with the ability to keep your feet cool!

10. Enjoy One Of The Summer Menorcan Fiestas

Drink a Pomada, enjoy an Ensaimada on the go. But more importantly, witness the majestic Menorcan horsemen pull the reigns and guide their partners around, trotting, dancing and rearing up for enjoyment.

11. Unwind At One Of Menorca’s Hidden Beaches
Switching back to the coastline theme, Menorca has hundreds of amazing, golden sandy beaches with quiet hidden beaches, or large expansive beaches. There’s a beach for everyone in Menorca.
However, some of our favourites lie around the south coast of Menorca sandwiched around the resort of Cala Galdana, namely Macarella, Cala en Turqueta, and Cala Mitjana.

13. Visit The Only Zoo On The Island, Lloc de Menorca / Menorca Zoo
Perfect for children, or possibly the big kids too. The only Zoo on the island Lloc de Menorca can be found on the Me-1 between Alaior and the capital, Mahon.

14. Enjoy Michelin Star Quality Food
Menorcan is blessed with fresh fish on it’s doorstep, well reared meat and delicate fruit and vegetables to enjoy. Family run restaurants in Menorca are plentiful and hundreds of local restaurants serve delightful food up and down the coast.
However, for the best of the best, Menorcan Michelin recommended food is where to head. Fortunately, Menorca has a few to chose from. Firstly you have Godai found within the Suites del Lago hotel in Cala’n Bosch, serving up unique Japenese-Menorcan cuisine. Secondly, Mon Restaurant just set back from the intimate Ciutadella harbour serves contemporary Menorcan and European food to very high standards, for reasonable prices. Lastly, Torralbenc Menorca in the countryside just north of Cala en Porter. Providing farm to table contemporary European and internationally inspired cuisine.
15. Witness The Menorcan Sunset
Sunset, sunrise, Menorca can provide some fantastic views, photo opportunities and chances to unwind, watch the world go by as another evening settles on the magical island.

16. Explore Ancient Talayotic Settlements
Menorca’s unique history is definitely worth delving into for something very different and inexpensive. The archaeological sites dotted around the farm land and landscape demonstrate structures, materials, forms and locations dating from the Bronze Age (1600 BCE) to the Late Iron Age (123 BCE). show the evolution of a “cyclopean” architecture built with very large blocks of stone

17. Step Foot In The Spectacular Lithica Quarry
An amazing disused limestone quarry on the outskirts of Ciutadella is definitely something unique to do in Menorca this summer. With production ceasing in 1994, Lithica Quarry is relatively recent. However, it’s now been converted into a tourist attraction, showcasing the huge structure, limestone pillars and s’Hostal gardens – botanical area of plants.

18. Put Pedal To The Metal Go Karting
One for the adrenaline junkies. Zoom around one of the best Go-Karting tracks on the island at Castillo Menorca just outside of Ferreries. Go Karts for all ages allow the whole family to take part, from various CC adult Go-Karts, to less powerful, children’s and even double seater Go-Karts.
In the summer heat it may not be for everyone, but definitely an experience. Next door you’ll also find a small waterpark, children’s play area and cafe, which may be well needed after some hot, quick laps of the Go-Kart track!
19. Head Out To The Best Waterpark On The Island
One of our favourite attractions, particularly in the summer sunshine. Slipping and sliding down plenty of rides, jumping in and out of swimming pools and shooting down chutes on a rubber ring, waterparks are made for holidays. Our waterparks in Menorca guide has everything you need.
However, our favourite has to be Splash Sur Menorca. With over 7 slides, swimming pool, lazy river, onsite restaurant and more. Splash Sur is one for the family and another for the adrenaline junkies.
20. Hire A Car And Explore Everything Menorca Has To Offer
We’ve gone through plenty of activities, unique experiences, places to visit, food to try and everything in between. Being a small island, the buses in Menorca can be fantastic, they just require some planning. But we know that isn’t for everyone, particularly those with small children and families in general.
