Naturally, the weather in Menorca changes considerably throughout the year. With some months scorching hot and others months in Menorca being much cooler. The Menorcan weather changes frequently but here’s our guide to help you:
Menorca January Weather
January in Menorca has a relatively pleasant feel. The sea is a bit cold and the weather fairly wintery and rainy. A lot of the beaches and resorts will be closed, as you would expect.
Temperatures for Menorca in January are around the 10-15℃ mark and probably too cold to venture into the sea. However, you wouldn’t need to wrap up as warmly as you would in many other countries around the world.
You also won’t need to worry to heavily about the January UV factor in Menorca at this time. It will be relatively cloudy, cool and pleasant.
Although it’s worth mentioning the rain. Menorca January weather means it may well rain and on average you can expect between 3-8 days of rain here. Not to mention chances of lightning and thunder on the island.
February Weather Menorca
Of course, the February weather in Menorca will gradually start to get warmer. However don’t expect any huge changes from January.
Expect strong winds, plenty of clouds and rain to match the January norms. Anywhere similar to January rain, around 3-8 days of rain in February in Menorca.
Again we recommend avoiding the cold seas in February. Most resorts won’t be open now either so don’t expect a lifeguard presence at the tourist beaches.
Menorca Weather March
The March weather in Menorca starts to slowly ramp up. Temperatures are starting to increase but you will still get fresh breezes hitting the island. The island will be very quiet at this time of year too, don’t expect many tourists around the towns and on the best beaches in Menorca.
Temperatures will start to tick upwards to around 10-15℃ but similarly to previous months, you shouldn’t be too worried about covering yourself in sunscreen. However, we do recommend you are careful and take caution with your skin care.
You’ll see some rainy days in March though, around a similar level to January and February, 4-9 days of rain in Menorca for March, approximately. The Menorca winds also start to pick up, so be careful, particularly in the sea or if you get a hot day – apply sunscreen.
April Weather Menorca
Menorca starts to wake up in April. The weather in April for Menorca starts to pick up, the seas are getting warmer and we have the Easter holidays for many European countries.
April in Menorca means the weather can however vary hugely, like it can around Europe. Highs of around 20℃ can be expect, but so to lows of 10℃. Not to mention April showers and winds to distract you from the warmth. Expect the unexpected in April in Menorca.
The seas are warming up in April though. Potentially still too cold for many, so if you’re strong enough to handle the sea in Menorca in April then dive right in – just be careful.
Menorca Weather May
Now we’re talking. Menorca weather in May starts to really ramp up. May in Menorca is when the temperatures starts to hit the 20℃ and the warmth starts to really show.
The Mediterranean sea is beginning to warm up and the younger generation will feel at home splashing about in the sea. You will still have some windy days, but nothing to detract you from those glorious days at the beach.
But be careful with the strong UV rays, windy days and strong sunlight make for a dangerous combination. So apply plenty of sun cream during you May holiday to Menorca.
June Weather Menorca
June is when the Menorca summer season really starts to ramp up. Weather during June in Menorca can ramp upwards of 25℃+. It can get extremely hot during June in Menorca so pack plenty of sunscreen and be aware of the high UV waves in June in Menorca.
The sea around Menorca will start to get a lot warmer now and be much more pleasant. You won’t see many rainy days around June in Menorca, the odd build up of cloud and rain may come, but I we wouldn’t advice packing for rain in June.
Menorca Weather July
July is almost peak season for Menorca. The Menorcan weather in July is extremely hot, UV levels are high and if there are any winds you can burn extremely quickly. Expect temperatures of over 25℃ consistently and on most days.
The sea is warm and pleasant, winds start to die down around now, but there can still be a windy day. However, July in Menorca is one of the driest months so we advise keeping out of the sunlight between 12-4pm.
August Weather In Menorca
Menorca weather in August is the hottest you can expect to see. With temperatures easily in excess of 28℃ most days and temperatures warm enough for shorts and a t-shirt in the evening.
Don’t forget the August is usually holiday season. Meaning you need to find the best beaches in Menorca to visit during this time to avoid the crowds.
The UV index is high in August in Menorca. Apply plenty of sunscreen and we advise staying out of the sun during the hours of 12-4pm. Don’t expect to see much rain during August in Menorca either. However, the warm Mediterranean sea makes for a pleasant dip.
Menorca Weather September
For weather in Menorca, September is one of the best. The holidays crowds of August have dispersed, the high temperatures of July and August have simmered – although September in Menorca is still warm and reaches easily the mid 20℃’s every day.
The sea is still nice and warm, the evening are cooler but easily warm enough to wear shorts or a skirt. However you may start to see the winds pick back up and a few rainy days here and there on the island. But don’t forget the UV rays will still be relatively high so keep applying sunscreen through the day.
October Weather In Menorca
What’s the weather in Menorca like in October many people will ask, we’re out of the peak season and prices are not sky high. Well, the temperature starts to dip, but you can enjoy warm weather during the day around the 20℃ mark and/or slightly lower. However it’s the evening when temperatures get a lot cooler and you will need a jumper or jacket. Sandwiched in between those warm days you’ll see the rains start to pick up, maybe even some heavy days of rain. You have been warned.
The sea will probably not be too attractively to jump right in. But, it will still be bearable for a swim if you find the time to warm up in it. Luckily, the resorts are closing down and relatively quiet. So you can enjoy a peaceful holiday around this time of year.
Menorca Weather November
The rains start to pick up in November and the weather starts to drop significantly. It’s now the down season and you won’t see many holiday makers venturing around. The UV rays are no more and you definitely won’t want to take a dip in the Mediterranean seas that have become a lot rougher now.
December weather In Menorca
The real off season of December you can expect in Menorca, cold temperatures and relatively more cloud and rain than previous months.
There won’t be any tourists in Menorca in December and the sea is much too cold to swim in, except for the brave hearted! Breezes and strong winds also pick up and caution is advised. Let alone the extra rainy days December in Menorca brings.
