Often read as Arenal de Castell or even Arenal d en Castell (missing the ‘), the coastal resort of Arenal d’en Castell finds itself on the North of Menorca and purpose built for the tourism industry. With plenty of restaurants, bars and cafés Arenal serves up what many see as a beautiful location to enjoy a nice getaway.
The wide expansive, yet shallow horseshoe beach make it ideal for families and plenty other amenities within the resort town as well as nearby, such as the Golf Son Parc.
Easily reachable by road taking the Me-1 from Mahon to the east, then heading north from Alaior until you reach the coast. Approximately a 30 minute journey from the Menorca airport or even the city centre.
Arenal d’en Castell Beaches
The Arenal d en Castell beach is arguably the main attraction of the resort. The horseshoe beach carves into the coastal providing a golden sandy, blue flagged, calm and spacious beach.
Plenty of lifeguards are visible, shallow waters thanks it’s horseshoe shape and gentle waves make the beach in Arenal d en Castell perfect for families and those with younger children. That being said, due to the vast size of the beach, there’s more than enough space for adults who want to find a quieter spot and enjoy the sun, sea and sand.
Another benefit of the Arenal d en Castell beach is the boardwalk running parallel to the Mediterranean sea, set to the back of the sand with stairs and ramps leading down to the sea. Things to do in Arenal d’en Castell & Activities
Families, adults and children alike there’s plenty to keep everyone busy in Arenal d’en Castell.
Firstly, for the children there are two parks found in the area. One small park to the East here and a second park in Punta Grossa slightly to the North East of Arenal located here. During the summertime there’s a temporary fun park located in Coves Noves.
More for the young ones, you can find a small waterpark located at Parc aquàtic Marina Parc. Tickets of which can be purchased at the hotel.
Adults may find enjoyment in the local Arenal Tennis Club at Coves Noves Tennis Club for a spot of tennis. Hiking tours of the island can also be enjoyed through Trails of Menorca, exploring the many trails the hug the coastline of Menorca or delve into the central trails and hills. To the West of Arenal in Son Parc you have the Golf Son Parc where you can enjoy 18 holes of golf on a warm summer’s day.

A fantastic spot overlooking the bay of Arenal d’en Castell, Arena Beach Club Restaurant provides views and great food to match. One of the more highly rated spots in the resort, Arena offers plenty of seafood and Paealla’s for every taste, grilled meats, pasta and of course pizza too. La Paella Restaurante
Another great restaurant spot in Arenal overlooking the golden, sandy beach. La Paealla Restaurante Arenal d’en Castell focusses on mainly fish and paella dishes, but you can find other family favourites to keep everyone happy from Menorcan speciality grilled dishes, meats, pizza and burgers too. Arenal d’en Castell Nightlife
Similar to many of the resorts in Menorca, Arenal d’en Castells nightlife is fairly restrained. Of course the hotels in the area will have their own entertainment, for example the Moon Dreams Marina Parc has regular evening entertainment such as Karaoke, quizzes, bingo and more.
Another example being the Palladium Hotel Menorca with their live evening shows throughout summer.
Beyond hotel entertainment, there are multiple Arenal d’en Castell bars to choose from. A lively favourite amongst many tourists is the O’Malley’s Irish Pub with plenty of sport on offer and of course, Guinness on tap. Alternatively, Outback Menorca is popular bar throughout summer, Australian themed with entertainment throughout summer from Drag Queen nights, live music and tribute acts. Another Irish bar in Arenal d’en Castell for a late night drink is Fifty One Bar, Karaoke, pool table, live music and more.
For something slightly later, your best bet would be to head to Ciutadella. Although quite tricky to reach and would most likely require a taxi home in the early hours of the morning. Bus routes in and out of Arenal d’en Castell can be found further below.

The family friendly hotel of Moon Dreams Marina Parc Arenal d’en Castell, provides 3 swimming pools to explore and onsite waterpark to keep the kids entertained. Relatively small with around 240 rooms spread over 2 floors and an all-inclusive offering for excellent convenience.
Rooms range from twin rooms and a larger family room, to an even larger 2 bedroom family room. Although no sea view you’ll have a balcony or terrace to enjoy the Menorcan sunshine.
3 swimming pools with 3 accompanying children’s pools on each site, waterpark with slides for all ages and only around a 15 minute walk from the large, horseshoe Arenal beach.
The buffet restaurant provides breakfast, lunch and dinner at set opening times. However a pool snack bar throughout the middle of the day will keep you well fed. The pool bar keeps you hydrated throughout the day and in the evening the lobby bar.
Outside of the water facilities, the kids club through the high season may keep the little ones entertained. Alternatively the Playroom with soft foam mats and craft table areas. For the adults and everyone in between there’s the evening entertainment with karaoke, live music and more. Not forgetting there’s a tennis court, billiards table, darts, volleyball, bocce, air hockey and plenty more.

Club Hotel Aguamarina
Another fantastic family friendly option with two swimming pools and waterpark make the Club Hotel Aguamarina in Arenal d’en Castell a great option in Menorca. A particularly large hotel with over 500 rooms spread across 3 buildings in a variety of blocks, serving up an all-inclusive offering.
Extremely close to the Arenal beach, just over 100 metres, the 2 large family sized swimming pools, children’s splash park and onsite waterpark with slides for the slightly older children and adults looking to have a bit of fun!
Club Hotel Aquamarina Arenal has two buffet restaurants open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with set opening and closing times. Two bars, found in Block A & B serve up treats a plenty. As well a Pizzeria, smoothie area, American burger spot, vending machines and more. Bear in mind that some of these food and drink areas cost a supplement and aren’t included in the all-inclusive.
Moving away from the water, other entertainment to keep everyone busy including an evening entertainment programme throughout summer, kid’s club for those under 12 years old and a teen programme for those 13 – 17 year’s old. Mini-disco’s, foam parties, Bingo, Karaoke and Quiz nights all throughout summer for all ages.
For sports and activities at the Club Hotel Aquamarina, there’s plenty. A XL size playground for the kids, basketball, volleyball, Tennis, Table tennis, Archery, Aerobics and Aqua aerobics, Climbing wall
and a Zipline. Not to mention football, shuffleboard, darts and more. Something for all ages at all times of the day. There’s also a gym open daily throughout the day for the fitness fanatics.

Seth Isla Paraiso Aparthotel
Another Seth Hotels offering on the island of Menorca. The Seth Isla Paraiso Aparthotel provides a more relaxed environment than the above family orientated hotels. A more intimate hotel too with just over 100 rooms, although spread across 6 buildings on a few different floors.
Overlooking the beautiful golden beach of Arenal d’en Castell atop of the cliffs, the views are spectacular. However, being on the hill, steps to and from the beach may make this hotel difficult for those with walking difficulties.
The Seth Isla Paraiso Aparthotel serves up Bed and Breakfast options or Half Board, all in their main buffet restaurant. As well as Pool bar during the summer months and their Salon Bar, which incur additional costs beyond the board options.
Being an apart hotel, there are less facilities on offer. However live music, cabaret and professional shows are put on twice a week throughout summer, kid’s club and mini disco keep the children entertained throughout the day and night, as well as a kid’s playground and water polo.
Rooms available range from a 1 to 2 bedroom that can sleep a range of 1 person up to 5, with either a balcony or terrace as well as some with a sea view.

Palladium Hotel Menorca
Back to hotels in Arenal d’en Castell, the Palladium Hotel Menorca provides a higher end accommodation option in Arenal. 4 stars, just over 250 rooms in 1 large hotel building. Perched on a small hill providing some amazing sea views of the Arenal d’en Castell beach, which only happens to be a short 5 minute walk away.
A sleek hotel, large out door pool and smaller adults pool, Balinese beds, splash pool for the children and much more make the Palladium Hotel one of Arenal’s more desirable hotel.
An all-inclusive offering, breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served in the main buffet restaurant with self serve stations and live show cooking. The pool bar keeps you hydrated throughout the day and into the evening the Sa Pomada bar and Gregal lobby bar will keep you busy.
Facilities aren’t plentiful, but a kid’s club throughout the day and evening entertainment programme throughout the summertime provide enough entertainment, gym and aqua aerobics for those looking to keep up with their fitness on holiday.

Arenal d’en Castell Apartments
Seth Sa Mirada Apartments
Our second option provided by the Seth Hotels brand is the Seth Sa Mirada Apartments. Apartments typically come with less ‘stars’, Sa Marinda is no different being only 2 stars however don’t let this fool you. This is mainly because of limited on site facilities.
Set on the Arena hill top overlooking the Arenal d’en Castell Bay, the views are wonderful. Albeit a steep walk or steps down to the beach, something to bear in mind. A large pool area and smaller children’s pool provide plenty of space for the very intimate apartment blocks of only 60 rooms, spread across 3 buildings and up to 3 floors.
A variety of board options, self-catering, bed and breakfast as well as half-board mean there’s something for everyone. The Isla Paraiso buffet at the sister hotel, Seth Isla Paraíso, provides local and international dishes for those who chose one of the board options. Whilst the pool bar serves up what you need throughout the day to stay refreshed, found on site.
Both the evening entertainment and kids club can also be found in the sister hotel too, the Seth Isla Paraíso.

Buses to and from Arenal d’en Castell provide an affordable opportunity to explore Menorca. Albeit some preparation is required on times, just so you’re not caught out. Buses aren’t so frequent in Menorca, but when you’re on one, they’re typically comfortable and air conditioned.
