What To Do In Menorca With Kids This Summer Overview
Family holidays are wonderful, particularly to the idyllic island of Menorca. Warm sunshine, long summer days, cold ice creams, golden sands. What more could you want? Well, you may well be stuck for ideas and left wondering what to do in Menorca with kids this summer? Don’t worry we have the answers.
Below, we’ve provided perfect ideas to suit all budgets, those with car hire, those without car hire, families of all sizes from just one to, well, large families!
Of course, hiring a car will no doubt make exploring the island easier and you can explore how much that will cost here. However, it may not be necessary with buses around the island, organised tours and of course, local activities in whatever resort you may well be staying in.
Visit One Of The Many Waterparks On The Island
Fortunately, Menorca has plenty across the island from East to West. So f you’re left wondering what to with your kids in Menorca this summer, immediately head for a waterpark. Always a family favourite!
Splash Sur Menorca, to the south east of Menorca. Los Delfines Aqua Center in Cala Blanes to the west of Menorca. AquaRock to the south west of Menorca in Cala en Bosch. Carema Splash Park in Fornells. Castillo Menorca, to the west of Ferreries heading towards Ciutadella.
Many are easy to reach with a hire car. However, many of the main cities nearby are easily reachable by local bus. They may require a short taxi ride for the final leg of the journey for some. We have our in-depth Menorca Waterparks guide for further information on times prices and details. As well as our detailed Menorca bus guide for those interested.
Head To The Top Of Menorca
Why not experience the best views on the island? You may need to bribe them with an ice cream at the top but this certainly will tick the box of wondering what to with your kids in Menorca this summer.
Mirador Cim del Toro, El Toro or Mount Toro, named under various guises whoever you ask. Located just to the east of the inland town of Es Mercadal and standing at a relatively tame 358 metres. But don’t worry, you can expect beautiful views of the predominately flat island of Menorca, 360 degree unspoilt views.
Easy to reach by car hire, with the location here. Alternatively by bus head to Es Mercadal and for the final summit we advise a short taxi ride. We do not recommend walking to the top, particularly with young children. The narrow roads, summer heat and busy streets make it challenging if you have to look after yourself and your family.
Our Mount Toro guide has everything else you may require.
Get Your Need For Speed Fix Go Karting
Now this may not be for everyone, but for the adrenaline junkies. Your kids will not only have one of the best times on holiday, but you for certain won’t be left wondering what could keep your kids entertained in Menorca whist visiting.
Our advice would be to head to Castillo Menorca, to the west of Ferreries heading towards Ciutadella. Here you have a small gift store outlet, small waterpark and large children’s play area, onsite restaurant and then next door, the Go Kart track.
The Go Kart track has something for everyone and a substantial outdoor track. With Go Karts for children and adults as well as double Go Kart, so adults can take younger or less confident children out. The track itself has a nice long straight which has a gentle turn on it, the rest of the track takes you through winds, hairpins and twists. Toilet facilities and a small service desk for a drink are there too.
Due to its location on the main road, if you want to head to Castillo via bus go to Ferreries and then the final leg must be done via taxi. Driving directly you can use this location.
Explore Your Resort On Two Wheels
Menorca is renowned for long cycles around the island, the winding roads, gradual hill climbs and more, hence why we created our cycling in Menorca guide. However, this type of cycling we wouldn’t recommend for most children.
What we would recommend to do with kids this summer in Menorca is hire bikes locally and explore your resort, stop off for an ice cream or two and enjoy the cool summer breeze. The full list of bike hire stores can be found on our Menorca cycling guide.
However here are a few of our resort favourites: Mister Bike Tours in Punta Prime, Sports & Kayak Menorca Cala Torret who can help from areas inibeca/Cala Torret, Cala en Porter, Santo Tomas & Puerto de Addaia, BB Bikes in Binibeca, Just Fun Bikes in Son Bou, Artiem Audax Hotel in Cala Galdana, Beach Bike in Cala en Bosch, Tot Velo in Cala en Blanes and Happy Menorca in Arenal d’en Castell.
Explore The Beautiful Coastline & Beaches
Menorca is blessed with hundreds of beaches, coves and inlets to explore. With many holidaymakers spending their time in one of the many best resorts in Menorca, the beach and coast will no doubt be close by.
Therefore, we highly recommend heading to the local beach. Take a packed lunch, sunscreen, parasol and whatever else you may need for a day at the beach. Many of the beaches also link up with sections of the Cami de Cavalls (coastal walk around the island), ideal for a short walk up or down the coast to keep the kids entertained and burning energy.
If you’re still left wondering what to with your kids in Menorca over summer at the beach then there are plenty of local shops selling snorkelling equipment and even body boards. Get your kids under the sea, exploring the wild life or surfing the gentle waves Menorca has to offer.
