Cala Blanca Overview

One of the newest towns and resorts in Menorca, Cala Blanca was built as recently as the 1990’s to cater for the increasing tourism industry on the island.

Featuring a beautiful small sandy beach nestled within a rocky cove. Characterised by fine golden sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters.

Cala Blanca Beach

The Cala Blanca beach is protected by small cliffs and larger pine trees and set slightly back from the ocean, perfect for young families. What welcomes you is the golden sandy beach with a sun loungers and umbrellas to keep you in the shade. A few restaurants and bars nearby to keep you well fed and watered.

With the rock edges and shallow waters, this makes for a great place to enjoy a spot of snorkerling.

One downside of the beach is during the peak season of August it may get quite busy.

The Cala Blanca beach also provides toilets, car parking and good mobility access.

Whether you want to explore at a faster pace or, explore in your own time, organised excursions in Cala Blanca and around Menorca provide exactly that. From Gin tasting, to elegant horse shows, jeep tours and boat trips, Menorca has plenty on offer.

Cala Blanca Amenities

It’s worth mentioning what other services the Menorcan resort of Cala Blanca provides.

There are a few smaller supermarkets which provide plenty of choice as well as summer clothing and beachwear. Supermercado Julia and Supermercat Sa Pupoa should provide your basic necessities but may prove to be quite expensive when compared to elsewhere.

Therefore, we recommend the larger supermarkets. Which you will need to head to Ciutadella, supermarkets such as Lidl or Eroski can be found there are provide much better value for money, great for larger shops. The Parque Acuático Aquarock is further south in the Cala en Bosc resort if you wanted something different for a day out. There’s also a Go-karting track here too that features on our Menorca Go Karts guide.

There are multiple bars and restaurants which you can find just below in the Cala Blanca nightlife section.

Cala Blanca Nightlife

The nightlife in Cala Blanca is a somewhat tame affair. But then again, you don’t come to Menorca for its crazy nightlife.

However, there are some bars in Cala Blanca to enjoy in the evenings. Such as the Moonlight Cocktail Bar right be the beach, or the beautiful Marea Beach Club sat just on the rocks overlooking the sea.

Further in the centre of Cala Blanca you have a few more to pass the night away. Such as Laurel Hardy, Jenny’s Bar, or the plush Jigger Cooking Cocktail. Or the The Blarney Stone which has more of a pub style ambiance and cuisine.

For a later night your best bet is head to Ciutadella which is only a short bus ride, or taxi away. Probably too far on foot. Further information on Cala Blanca taxis and buses in Cala Blanca can be found further below.

Cala Blanca Hotels

Globales Cala Blanca

Not the largest hotel on offer with 163 rooms but duly caters to the all-inclusive option. A main central pool accompanied by a smaller children’s pool with sun terrace keeps you refreshed during the day. Alternatively head to the beach which only 5 minutes away on foot.

Providing a main restaurant with themed nights and a variety of international cuisine on offer, plus a lounge evening bar serving local spirits, cocktails and beers.

Activities throughout the day to keep you busy if relaxing isn’t your thing. From Aerobics and Aqua aerobics, to Water polo, French bowls, Table tennis and more. Plus a gym if you want to have a real sweat. Into the evening you can expect live shows, quiz nights and more.

Globales Mediterrani

Slightly larger than the Globales Cala Blanca, the Global Mediterrani offers 192 rooms in total. Similarly though, catering for those who enjoy an all-inclusive option.

With a large lagoon style pool for the adults and a smaller children’s pool to enjoy throughout the day. With refreshments provided by the poolside bar.

The buffet restaurant serves up a range of local and international dishes. Such as Spanish paella, as well as international favourites, including pasta and pizza.

Your evenings can be spent enjoying the live shows, including live singers and dancers. Whereas during the day you’re treated to Gymnastics, Archery, Water polo, Tables Tennis and more. Not to mention the small onsite gym if that’s what you’re in to.

Hotel Spa Sagitario Playa

Once of the smallest hotel in Cala Blanca with only 70 odd rooms and also slightly further away from the Cala Blanca beach, around a 10 minute walk.

Cala Blanca Villas

There are a large of villas in Cala n Blanes, with great variety, unique views and locations. From large 10 persons 5 bedrooms grand villas, to a quaint and more intimate experience with villas sleeping up to 6 persons. Cala’n Blanca villas usually come with access to a private pool with plenty of sun loungers, fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes. Although not all villas come with air-conditioning.

Cala Blanca Car Hire

The easiest way to travel around Menorca from Cala Blanca we feel is by car, or moped. There are a few companies that provide car hire in Cala Blanca including as Autos Menorca and Owners Cars. You can search the prices you need for car hire here.

Hiring a car in Cala Blanca will make life a lot easier if you plan to visit other areas on the island, particularly towards the East, like the islands capital Mahon, or even some of the best beaches in Menorca.

Cala Blanca Taxis

It’s worth noting Menorca doesn’t operate Uber or any similar private taxi firms.

Taxis have to pickup in specific areas, unless pre-booked from a hotel/apartment etc, which you can book taxis here and all taxis on the island are painted white and the fair metre is easily visible inside, ticking over so you can see exactly what you’re paying.

The set locations taxis can stop at are called Paradas de Taxi. Here are the taxi rank locations on the island and they are limited to four passengers only.

Fares are regulated on distance so you should be able to get an approximate price before setting off.

Taxis transfers from Mahon Airport to Cala Blanca are easy to find, with a taxi rank at Mahon Airport.

Airport Transfers from Mahon Airport to Cala Blanca

Mahon airport to Cala Blanca directly should take under an hour. Menorca island doesn’t suffer too badly from traffic so the journey time is relatively consistent.

There are various airport transfer options to choose from for Mahon airport transfers to Cala Blanca. For example you can reach Cala Blanca from Mahon Airport by car hire, taxi, shared transfers and even local buses. However the airport shared transfer service from Mahon airport to Cala Blanca remains one of the most direct routes and cost effective routes.
