Santo Tomas in Menorca is a popular coastal gem located on the southern coast of Menorca, Spain. Our ultimate guide to Santo Tomas Menorca has everything you need.
Renowned for its spectacular golden beach stretching along the resort. Santo Tomas is a quiet family focused resort with multiple larger hotels to cater for said families as well as apartment blocks dotted along the main street and promenades.
Located around 35 to 40 minutes from the capital city Mahon.
Santo Tomas Beach
The Santo Tomas beach and resort is particularly popular among families. In particularly to its relatively calm and shallow waters, the gentle slope from the shore into the sea and absence of strong currents make it ideal children. You can also find plenty of opportunities for sunbed and umbrella rental.
It’s worth noting that the winds can pick up on occasions, so ensure you check what colour flag is displayed at the beach. If the flag is red, we strongly advise staying out of the water. Yellow be cautious and green is nice and calm.
The beach in Santo Tomas is split by a rocky point which is home to the Sol Beach House Menorca and Santo Tomas Hotel. Beyond this you have the Playa de San Adeodato and when looking out to sea on your right you have the Cova des colomets, a minute island a short swim out to sea. This beach stretches up until the beautiful restaurant Es Bruc.
Beyond this and the next beach beyond Es Bruc is Binigaus beach. Another golden sandy beach with gently crashing waves. Albeit with less amenities in the immediate vicinity.
Set back from the main Santo Tomas beach you have a promenade, taking you from one end of the resort through to other end. Where occasionally small traders will pop up over the summer to sell home made souvenirs and trinkets.
Santo Tomas Amenities
There are two small commercial areas in Santo Tomas. At the top end of the resort you have a doctors, supermarket, bakery, car hire centre, tobacconist, pharmacy and a few souvenir shops. As well as Bar Halley. Which can be found here. Just opposite there is an ATM.
The second commercial area sits in front of Restaurante Can Berto. A similar offering to the other commercial area, supermarket, bakery, car hire centre and few souvenir shops. Although here there’s a small water sports company in which you can hire kayaks, boats and canoes. And this set of shops can found be found here.
A much smaller supermarket and ATM can also be found on the street a short walk down the Globales Lord Nelson Hotel.
Along the aforementioned Santo Tomas promenade, you’ll pass behind a few restaurants and bars, as well as a children’s park next to Restaurante Can Berto.
Santo Tomas Supermarkets
There are three supermarkets in Santo Tomas that provide the majority of what you will need for your stay in resort. Of course, they will be more expensive due to convenience. Two are found at the commercial zones in the resort. One at the far end of the resort, the other next door to the Seth Santo Tomas Hotel. Lastly, the smallest supermarket is found next door to the Lord Nelson hotel.
- Cife Supermercats 2001 (Urbanització Santo Tomàs, s/n, 07749 Sant Tomás)
- Cife Supermercats Barvi (Urbanització Santo Tomàs, 2H, 07749 Santo Tomas)
- Super Lord Nelson Supermarket (Menorca Playa, 07749 Sant Tomàs)
The village just inland from Santo Tomas and around a 10 minute drive away, Es Migjorn Gran, has a few other supermarkets if you need to do a larger shop for items. Cheaper than the resort prices at Santo Tomas.
Santo Tomas Restaurants
Being a coastal resort with plenty of accommodation, as you’d expect there are plenty of restaurants in Santo Tomas to chose. Great if you want to support the local economy and try your hand at hand made dishes with some of the freshest ingredients.
Es Pins
Starting at the far end of Santo Tomas resort you have the restaurant Es Pins. With beautiful views out to the Mediterranean Sea Es Pins serves up beautiful Spanish cuisine, gorgeous wines and even a children’s play area to keep the little ones busy. Traditional dishes such as traditional Paella, Mahón cheeses, Spanish cured Iberic ham, tapas style dishes and more. You can check out the Es Pins website and menu here.
Can Berto
Alternatively, you have Restaurante Can Berto. Towards the midway point of the resort and hidden behind the small commercial shops. Unfortunately not the same views as other restaurants in Santo Tomas, but nevertheless serving up some lovely food such as steak cooked on a stone, paella and other beautiful fish dishes.
Las Dunas
In between these two restaurants on the main road you have Las Dunas. Las Dunas Santo Tomas offers a buffet style approach to dining. Mixed reviews unfortunately so our bet would be to stick to some of the other restaurants. However, they have nice children’s area as well as a bar attached with a nice seating area to unwind in.
Restaurant Malibú
Restaurant Malibú is set somewhat in the grounds of the Santo Tomas Hotel, although separate and open to the public. Being set on the promenade Restaurant Malibú Santo Tomas can get quite busy, combined with the gorgeous views on offer and regular evening entertainment make for a good combination.
It’s worth noting the Restaurant Malibú and Es Pins are owned by the same company, Seth. Who also own various hotels in the resort. Dishes on offer include Mahón cheese dishes, fried fish and squid, fresh salads, grilled meats and fish and plenty more on offer. The Malibú menu can be viewed here.
Chiringuito Es Bruc Menorca
Chiringuito Es Bruc is the last restaurant we want to mention in Santo Tomas. Found at the entrance of the Santo Tomas resort, just by the roundabout upon entry. With beautiful views out to Cova des colomets, Playa de San Adeodato and Platja Binigaus. Extremely popular with locals and daily beach goers so you may be waiting for a table over lunch and dinner, we advise booking in advance.
A lovely variety of dishes are available at Chiringuito Es Bruc, and arguable the best restaurant in the resort. Serving up items such as fresh salads, starters to shares including mussels and padrón peppers, plenty of fish, meat and even home-made burgers. The Es Bruc Santo Tomas menu can be found here.
Magic Pan Santo Tomas
One of the newest restaurants in Santo Tomas and located towards the far end of the resort above the local shops. Serving a variety of dishes catering local cuisine as well as international dishes.
Dishes at the Magic Pan include traditional Grilled Octopus and Salmon, Menorcan style Cod, to more international dishes such as a range of Pizzas and Burgers.
Magic Pan is also one of the only places in Santo Tomas that remains open later for drinks, meaning if you want a late night drink this is the place. Most nights remaining open until 02:00 / 02:30 in the summer.
Santo Tomas Activities
On the main Santo Tomas beach you’ll easily spot pedalo’s to hire for a few hours or so, as well as paddle boards when the weather allows. Kayak’s possible too, just head behind the Cife supermarket here and the Kayak store should be able to assist.
Next door to Las Dunas restaurant there are a few tennis courts to hire too (available to hire at Mestral & Llebeig apartments), that includes equipment if required.
Along the beach promenade and behind the central car park there’s a small children’s playground too.
On car parks, there are plenty in Santo Tomas. Mainly because the beach is such an attraction for a day out. Parking is available here and here to name a few. Along with spots along the main road in Santo Tomas.
If you’re looking for a gym in Santo Tomas and want to keep up your healthy gym habits in Menorca, you’ll need to stick to hotels. Fortunately all the hotels will have a small fitness suite, studio or gym. For those staying in self-catering, apartments or villas, you’re unlikely to have access to an onsite gym. However, for a small charge many hotels in Santo Tomas will allow you to use their gym, even if you’re not a paid, staying guest in their hotel. For example a Santo Tomas gym you can visit is the Seth Santo Tomas Hotel gym, which contains a healthy selection of fitness apparatus such as; Treadmills, elliptical machines, air bike, rowing machine, dumbbells and TRX.
But if the Santo Tomas gyms aren’t your thing, you may want to look at bicycle hire in Santo Tomas, even better with greater availability of e-bikes and e-mountain bikes on the island.
Santo Tomas Nightlife
With the Menorcan resort of Santo Tomas mainly focused at families, the nightlife in Menorca is very limited.
Bar Halley is arguably the most popular bar in Santo Tomas. Offering food and drink from the morning through until the evening often showing sport, mainly football, to keep you entertained. You’ll also find live music dotted through the restaurants most evenings in the summer, such as Restaurant Malibú, or at Las Dunas.
More recently the Magic Pan restaurant has remained open later in the resort, meaning you can enjoy a late night drink beyond midnight.
You also have the option of course of heading into Ciutadella or the capital Mahon for a more adventurous evening, or heading to the next village inland, Es Migjorn Gran – easily accessible by bus, car or taxi.

It’s worth noting that all the hotels in Santo Tomas are close to the beach, so this shouldn’t be a concern when deciding where to stay.
