Cala en Porter Overview
One of the earliest resorts in Menorca, Cala en Porter, sometimes referred to as Cala’n Porter is a particularly popular family friendly resort. It’s south facing location provides beautiful sunrises and sunsets, ample accommodation to choose from and also some fantastic restaurants to chose from.
The surprisingly large beach with shallow waters and gentle waves make it perfect for children, the surrounding high cliffs provide perfect hiking trails through the Camí de Cavalls for adults and particularly close to the capital, Mahon.
Cala en Porter Beach
The main beach in Cala en Porter is right on the doorstep of the town itself, almost rectangular in shape, protected by cliffs either side, shallow waters and gentle waves make it perfect for families and smaller children.
With the cliffs either side providing natural protection, they also provide great opportunities for snorkelling and other water sports such as kayaking or even the more relaxing pedalos. For those wanting a more relaxing beach experience, the large size provides opportunities to sneak off to the edges to enjoy the sunshine and relax.

The beach at Cala en Porter has some convenient facilities at close location. To the side of the beach is a public toilet, public parking and lifeguard on duty. You can also find companies for kayak, pedalos. canoe, paddleboard hire and more. Slightly further away from the beach you have additional parking.
Please note, access to the beach is either down the road which is relatively steep and winding. Alternatively you have a set of steep steps opposite a small souvenir shop.

With many villas and accommodation in Cala’n Porter there are of course amenities dotted around to take advantage of.
Firstly, ATMs in Cala en Porter. Towards the centre of the resort you have a bunch of ATMs, within the Siesta Mar apartments you have a Euronet ATM, next to the Hong Ye Supermarket you have another Euronet ATM. Next to Casa Tia Tapas you have another Euronet ATM.
Next up, local Cala en Porter Tobacco shop. This is located opposite the Ayashe Lounge & Sound bar, the Estanco Cala en Porter. Finally, the local laundrette, Cala en Porter Lavanderia.
Supermarkets in Cala en Porter
There are plenty of villas in Cala en Porter which typically means self-catering. This also means you may have to buy a significant amount of food and drink throughout your stay. Casa Tia Tapas Cala en Porter
A superbly typical Spanish spot serving up delightful tapas. Crispy cod fish balls, beef with peppers, the ever popular patatas bravas, garlic prawns, lamb dumplings, beautiful local cheeses and almost everything in-between.

In the heart of the town you can find another Spanish/Menorcan style restaurant in the name of Lorengo Cala en Porter. Serving up an array of local traditional dishes to more international cuisines to satisfy any tourist. The varied menu serves up traditional local dishes from grilled squid and cuttlefish, as well as octopus, to Menorcan entrecôte, Menorcan style burgers, pizzas and more. With fantastic reviews Lorengo Cala en Porter is worth a visit, great value, pleasant service.

Samoa Cala en Porter
Onto another great local restaurant. Although strangely not much to do with the nation of Samoa. Their reviews and plenty of them, mean a delightful dinner is to be had at Samoa.
Samoa Cala en Porter serves up plentiful starters from salads and grilled prawns to stuffed peppers and Iberian ham and local cheeses.
The mains at the Samoa Cala en Porter vary too from local fish in the form of squid, salmon, Menorcan style sea bass and more. Their meat dishes are varied too with plenty of choice of beef, pork and chicken. Additional traditional Spanish and Menorcan dishes come in the form of Paellas and the infamous lobster stew. Tapas for everyone, pizzas and burgers finish off the menu alongside a variety of desserts.

Pizzeria 500⁰ grados Cala en Porter
Next up something slightly different than the above, but very familiar amongst the world, pizza. Pizzeria 500⁰ grados Cala en Porter provides everything you would expect from a pizzeria. Delightful choice with plenty of ingredients including mushrooms, various cheeses, meats and more. Why not try the Menorquina pizza featuring traditional Sobrasada sausage and honey? Or perhaps a courgette and olive pizza? The choice is fantastic.

Cala en Porter Nightlife
The nightlife in Cala en Porter, like most of the coastal resorts in relatively laidback with bars offering up late night drinks. Although the nightlife in Cala en Porter is slightly better than most other resorts on the island, mainly due to the increased amount of villas and apartments in the area.

Bars in Cala en Porter
Around the town and into the evening, the nightlife in Cala en Porter can certainly keep you entertained. Starting at the central main road connection you’ll come across The Village Pub, serving up classic home style meals and big breakfasts to boot, as well as draft beer. Pub quizzes and other entertainment all throughout the summer season.
Opposite the park you have something you’ve come to expect in many popular holiday resorts, particularly around Europe, the Irish pub. Bar O’Brave’s Irish Pub Cala en Porter is what you can find in the resort. Everything you can expect throughout summer from an Irish bar in Europe, live music, live sport, Guinness on draft, beer buckets, food a plenty. However the unique part about Cala en Porter’s Bar O’Brave’s Irish Pub is the onsite swimming pool for guests, fantastic for children and adults to cool down whilst enjoying some food and drink.
Just next door to The Village Pub you have the relatively simple Poolside Bar, relatively simple, unglamourous but ideal for sitting on the streetside and watching the world go round.
Last up we have Cala en Porter’s Bar Merlin. A friendly bar serving up food and drinks, as well as a spot to watch live sport during your visit. British owned, a simple set up and plenty of Newcastle United memorabilia on the walls.
Cocktail bars in Cala en Porter
Across the road from The Village Pub & Poolside Bar you have a quaint cocktail bar in the form of Gorgeous Bar Oliver’s, ideal when sat in the summer sun or evening warmth, choose from traditional cocktails such as Mojito’s, Long Island Iced Tea, Sex On the Beach.
Next to to Gorgeous Bar Oliver’s, you have the larger Bar Cocteleria Aloha. Aloha bar Cala en Porter serves up fantastic cocktails for all, in some quirky glasses. Cosmopolitans, Mai Tai’s and plenty more, all with live music throughout summer to keep you entertained.
However last up is for nightlife in Cala en Porter is the hotel Club Menorca, which offers probably the best views over the Cala’n Porter beach and bay. Head up to cliff top hotel bar for cocktails and drinks whilst watching the boats come in and out, beach fills up and empties with guests and the world passes you by. Although not in the town of Cala en Porter itself, we have to mention Hotel Torralbenc Cala en Porter. Located just on the outskirts of the town and a former farmhouse has now been converted into a countryside boutique hotel with pool, spa, restaurant that features on our top 7 Menorcan restaurants list.
A particularly small and intimate countryside hotel, the Torralbenc provides a good variety of room types of doubles and superior doubles in the form of their uniquely named Torralbenc Cottage, Grand Sea View, Garden Cottage, Sea View, Superior and Albenc. Featuring hotel amenities you’ve come to expect of air-conditioning, internet access, TV and safety deposit box.
The facilities aren’t plentiful but 5 star service certainly makes up for that. However they have almost everything you’d expect. Outdoor swimming pool, fitness room and onsite restaurant.

Sa Barrera Hotel Cala en Porter
An adults only hotel that although didn’t feature on our Menorca ultimate adults only hotels list is definitely worth going into more detail on our Cala n Porter hotels list.
The Sa Barrera Hotel Cala en Porter located in the town just of the centre atrium to the west provides fantastic views and relaxed environment, all at a short walk to most amenities in the town.

At only 26 rooms in total the Sa Barrera Hotel Cala en Porter is a relatively intimate offering. With various room types available all focussed around serving 2 people, being adults only. However, you have pool views, sea views, terraces available, ground floors and top floors. The Sa Barrera Hotel rooms have something for everyone. All coming with private balconies or terraces, TVs, safety deposit boxes, ensuite bathrooms, coffee and tea making facilities, large wardrobes and air-conditioning.
Being a 3 star hotel, facilities are somewhat limit. That being said, you have an outdoor pool, laundry service, wi-fi throughout the hotel, cocktail bar and terrace. Short walks to the local beach, cliff tops bars, beach clubs and resort restaurants and bars mean great reviews on Tripadvisor are plentiful.

Seth Playa Azul Cala en Porter
Next up, probably the largest hotel in Cala en Porter, the Playa Azul. The Playa Azul Cala en Porter offers 125 rooms spread across 4 floors with offer some fantastic views overlooking the beach, cliffs and countryside across the bay.

Part of the Seth Hotel group, Playa Azul room types vary from basic and standard doubles to larger bungalow offerings with 2 rooms. All having optional sea views overlooking the beach of Cala’n Porter.
Another 3 star offering means hotel facilities are somewhat limited. However, an onsite outdoor swimming pool and children’s pool, weekly entertainment throughout summer, lawn children’s playground, wi-fi, snack bar and restaurant.
The onsite buffet restaurant serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner providing international and local cuisine. As well as onsite bar that provides a variety of lunchtime snacks and family favourites.

Club Menorca Cala en Porter
A beautiful guest house set on the cliff tops the Club Menorca Cala en Porter offers spectacular views of the beach, bay and cliffs beneath. Another adults only offering in the resort mean peace, tranquillity and no children is the norm here.

However, built into the cliffside make this hotel relatively tricky to reach. Therefore, if you’re unstable on your feet or have accessibility issues then steer clear. The 53 steps from the road to the hotel aren’t easy.
The rooms are all bed and breakfast with regards to board and the types vary around two people, with standard king rooms, double room and king room. Room amenities sea views, air-conditioning, ensuite showers, wi-fi and safety deposit box.
Although another 3 star in the resort, mainly due to it’s facilities shouldn’t put you off. Elegantly finished with a clean and fresh finish. A fantastic onsite restaurant, bar with terrace, and local beach down the cliffs if everything you should need. There’s no onsite swimming pool or gym, which limit the star rating of this hotel.

Next up we have the Siesta Mar Cala en Porter apartments, right in the heart of the town itself. One of the largest accommodations in Cala’n Porter with 240 self catering apartments spread over 3 floors and various buildings.

Multiple room type options are available in the Siesta Mar from smaller and larger 1 bedroom apartments, to various 2 bedroom apartments for slightly larger groups of 4 people. Plenty of room amenities come as standard including air-conditioning, safety deposit box, shower or bath, kettle, iron, TV and more.
Being another 3 star, facilities aren’t as plentiful as many larger hotels. But you can enjoy a larger outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers and parasols and snack bar.

Buses to and from Cala en Porter provide an affordable way to explore the island and get around, convenient too.
However they require some planning, particularly if you plan to from Cala en Porter to Ciutadella, with no direct bus route. A similar story if you want to reach some of the other coastal resorts. Therefore you will need to head to Mahon or Alaior, then take an onwards bus.

Local bus being the most difficult with no direct buses – so head to our Menorca bus guide for further information if local bus is your preferred method.
